In order to create a VR booth, you need to decide on the type of virtual reality equipment that you want to bring to your event. At VirtualRealityRental.co, we offer two types of VR: Room-Scale and 360˚.
In Room-Scale VR, a VR headset tracks your head motion while special controllers track your hand movements and allow you to interact with objects in a virtual environment. This option takes up the most space (about an 8ft x 8ft area), but offers the most immersive VR experience possible. Your guests can walk around in their virtual space, playing through amazing experiences.
360˚ virtual reality, on the other hand, takes up much less space. In fact, to incorporate 360˚ VR, all you need is a small table with chairs. Wearing a VR headset, your guests have the ability to easily switch between different virtual reality videos. While your headset still tracks your head motion in 360˚ VR, this option does not track hand motion, and is meant to be a more stationary experience. A benefit of 360˚ VR is that you can have multiple guests use VR at once, whereas in Room-Scale only one guest can wear the headset at a time.

Room-Scale Virtual Reality
Room Scale virtual reality is the most immersive and mind-blowing type of virtual reality on the market. In Room Scale VR, special sensors or cameras are used to track your motions in a three dimensional space. Specifically, a headset is used to track your head motion while also displaying a full 360˚ virtual world. In order to allow you to interact with the objects you are seeing in your new space, users hold controllers that track their hand movements. This combination creates the feeling that you are actually inside a completely virtual environment. Imagine swinging your light saber while dodging blows from a sith lord, opening an elevator door and walking the plank off the side of a high-rise building, or stepping up, pulling back your arrow, and releasing at just the right moment to hit your target.
If you’re interested in bringing Room Scale virtual reality to your next event, you’ll need to make sure you have a few key requirements. First, you need a dedicated play area big enough to fit the full VR experience. An 8ft x 8ft area is perfect, and will fit any VR game you want to bring to your event; however, we do have some experiences that are playable in a 6ft x 6ft space. Next you need to make sure you have access to electrical outlets to run the experience. We also recommend including an external monitor so that all of your guests can see what’s happening inside the headset.

360˚ Virtual Reality
360˚ virtual reality involves using a headset that tracks your head motion to allow you to experience a 360˚ virtual space. Unlike Room Scale VR, 360˚ VR is a stationary experience where guests remain either seated or standing still. It is also different from Room Scale VR in that your hand motions are not tracked. Instead, users tap a touchpad on the side of the helmet in order to navigate through menus and control the experience. Because there is so much less movement in 360˚ VR, the games take up much less space, allowing multiple guests to experience VR in the same area that would only allow one Room Scale experience. Plus, in 360˚ VR, it’s easy to switch between multiple games and videos, giving your guests a customizable, self-guided experience.
If you’re looking to bring 360˚ games to your next event, we can help you make it happen. First, you’ll need to make sure you have a dedicated table and four or five chairs so that everyone has space to use the headsets (can be as small as a cocktail table if guests will be standing.) You will also need access to power as the headsets rely on smartphones to display the VR game, and may need to be charged when not in use.
