You’ve heard of virtual reality, but what is it? At the most basic level, virtual reality is the use of a headset that allows the user to see a completely virtual, 360 environment. However, VR can take many forms. For example, some virtual reality experiences allow you to actually interact with your digital environment using motion-tracked controllers, while other experiences allow you to sit back and enjoy the experience without tracking your movements. For example, while in one experience you might be a NFL quarterback, using your own arm motion to throw a football, in another experience you might be riding in a hot air balloon, simply using your headset to look around at your new landscape. In essence, virtual reality can be anything you want it to be, and we have access to thousands of VR experiences to make sure we can make it exactly what you want.
We offer two types of VR technology for event, one being corded VR, and the other being cordless VR. The following sections will tell you everything you need to know about both, and help you decide which type is right for your next event.
Corded VR is the most immersive virtual reality activation available. This is because it allows guests to interact with objects in their virtual world. If you see something in front of you in Corded VR, don’t be afraid! Reach out and touch it! This type of VR experience is unmatched in giving your guests the feeling that they are truly experiencing a new world. Additionally, in corded headsets, users are free to move around in their virtual environment, and you will need an 8-foot by 8-foot space to make sure your guests are getting the full effect (though some experiences allow you to use a 6-foot by 6-foot space if a larger area is not available).
Corded VR requires the newest in virtual reality technology, and is the most advanced, interactive event activation on the market. In a Corded VR experience, guests are able to interact with virtual objects using motion-tracked controllers. When you move your hand in a Corded VR experience, you will actually be able to see it move in VR, so, for example, picking up or dropping an item in virtual reality feels just like you're doing it in the real world.
Even though only one person can use the headset at a time, you never have to worry about leaving anyone out as we can easily output what the guest is seeing in VR to a TV or LED wall. This allows for the VR experience to be shared with other guests, giving it a larger visual presence and attracting others to join in on the fun.
Compared to Corded VR, Cordless VR is a more relaxed experience for your guests because the 360 videos typically require the attendee to be seated. Some of the most popular 360 VR videos are those that put the guest in a real-world location, which can be anywhere from Mt. Everest, the Rainforest, or even looking down at Earth from Space. We also have plenty of cordless games and puzzles for a unique VR experience. In total, we have over 30,000 Cordless VR experiences available, and we’re focused on helping you find the exact match for your next event.
The Cordless VR experience requires less space than Corded, so it may be a good fit for you if you’re looking to fit a big VR experience into a smaller area. We will provide the headsets for the event pre-loaded with your chosen 360 content. In order to make Cordless VR work at your next event, we suggest one 48-inch round tall boy table for every three or four chairs and we will also need access to power.
The easiest way to understand the difference between a Cordless VR and a Corded VR experience is to compare two VR experiences: Mt. Everest and Google's Tilt Brush.
In the Mt. Everest Cordless VR experience, your point of view is from the head of a mountaineer climbing up Mount Everest. While seated, you can look up, down, and all around, but you aren’t in charge of the climb. Instead, you’re along for the ride as you ascend the mountain and experience the awe the sights and sounds provide.
A Corded VR experience, however, allows you to move around more freely in the virtual world and actually control your experience. For instance, in Google's Tilt Brush, you control a paintbrush that allows you to paint wherever you want in your virtual environment using a range of different colors, patterns, and textures. You can walk from one side of the space to the other, and you can scale your area in or out to look at your work from different angles.
There are two main differences between Corded VR and Cordless VR, the first being the ability to move around in Corded VR. Second is the image quality, with Corded VR incorporating more advanced headsets that allow for a more distinct, seamless visual experience.

While most folks looking to have a 360 VR experience at their event contract with us to provide them with on-site technicians, staffing is optional for 360 VR event experiences. If you decide to host the 360 VR experience internally, we will provide your team with a PDF that walks you through how to prepare and use said devices., as well as technical support via phone and email.
Room Scale VR
VirtualRealityRental.co works hard to provide the best experience for your event attendees. With that in mind, we feel it is paramount that we provide a seamless process from beginning to end. This starts with the pre-event strategy and continues through to the equipment rental process, implementation, and breakdown. For this reason, we don’t ship the equipment to an event organizer.
Our professional staff is also an integral part of the VR experience. The hardware involved require technicians that understand the technology and know how to fix things if something goes wrong.
